LG 686. LG G Pro Lite Dual (D686) review: daring modesty

home / Divorce

What did you like

large screen, a margin of brightness, a relatively powerful processor.

What did not like

After half a year of operation, I edit the review:
The main drawback for me, which I could not get along with, is the dazzling minimum brightness of the screen. In the dark it hurts the eyes.
I was waiting for an update to be loaded with an adjustment, but alas ...
1. Slowly receives traffic, distributes wi-fi, respectively (due to hardware);
2. Sound (the processing quality is not very good, Sony, Samsung, Apple have better, very noticeable in headphones, this is LG's feature);
3. The quality of the materials: the lid and the screen cracked (this is who's hands are from where .. =);
4. Weak hardware, but I don’t play games, I didn’t notice, it’s well optimized.

What did you like

1. Design: beautiful ("neat" looks), fits well in the hand and pocket; 2. Screen: very high quality, not noticeably low resolution; 3. Battery: optimal capacity for this performance; 4. Stylus: sometimes very handy (UD to PC; Notes to sketch or sketch); 5. Camera: acceptable photo quality (documents and street); 6. Shell: optimized, many handy features and settings. 7. Speakers: both conversational and main loud, do not squeak, do not crackle.

What did not like

when falling, a bunch of scratches appear .... I’ve been using it for three months already started to freeze .. the front camera is terrible! ... the size is too large it’s not convenient to do something with one hand, especially write a message ... there are no letters E, b .. not in the keyboard know why..

What did you like

beautiful design big screen battery lasts for a long time

What did not like

Turned out to be wrong

What did you like

What did not like

the battery is weak, the buttons do not work well, the settings are reset by themselves.

What did you like

Two SIM cards, you can hear the interlocutor well.

What did not like

Battery don't be fooled. it doesn't hold a charge. In the evening I charge 100 percent. and in the morning charging 70 percent. the phone did not ring, did not play, he just lay overnight and where he ate 30 percent of the charge ????? During dialing, almost every other time it freezes, only a reboot helps. do not take so as not to be upset later.

What did you like

What did not like

The return control buttons are on the case close to the edge and you often press them involuntarily when you hold the smartphone. Also, these buttons are not highlighted. In a dark place you poke at random.

What did you like

Good viewing angles and screen. The stylus is inserted into the smartphone. For everything else, see the specification. Can be used as an IR remote and it works

What did not like

Constant freezes when trying to make a call, think for a few seconds, to see an outdated processor with a constantly filled RAM make themselves felt. Periodic reset of the time zone settings and spontaneous, slept a couple of times for work. Knock he lives his life, he can turn on the screen in his pocket - a poorly implemented feature on this model. A not so powerful battery with active use of the screen at a minimum + Wifi + 3G is lucky no more than 6 hours, but in standby mode it really lives for a long time and ate only 2% per night.

What did you like

Good juicy very bright screen, good assembly

What did not like

Applications are not transferred to an external memory card. weak processor

What did you like

everything is fine

What did not like

Allegedly, the metal frame along the edge, on the front side of the phone, already has four dents, but it’s also not a fact that someone will encounter this. I always put my phone in the armrest in the car, and often it gets from the armrest cover.)))

What did you like

The phone, for its money, is beyond praise. Screen, battery, speed, durability, build quality, stylus, shock resistance (tested for a year of use), speakers at the bottom of the phone (you will never shut them up and you will always hear a call), a SIM card switch button (who uses the speakerphone in the car will understand) .

What did not like

For me, in principle, there are no disadvantages for such a price.

What did you like

Large screen, powerful battery, indestructible.

What did not like

now it is outdated - the display has a small resolution, a 2-core processor and only 1 MHz, after curtailing programs or games with an incoming call, they are not restored, the phone hangs and heats up.

What did you like

larger display

What did not like

There are a lot of shortcomings, but this is when compared with the flagships. The case is very prone to cosmetic defects, in a couple of months it will cover like a Samsung. The screen is easily soiled, but this is when compared with flagship displays. Very terrible sound if you listen to the player. I have a HIFI player, before that I listened to music on the blackberry Z10 - so in this LG the sound on the headphones gives out such that you listen like a Chinese player for 200 rubles. The firmware is not out yet. A big minus is not matching the double-tap feature on the screen. Before that, there was a lumiya 925 - it always responded to a double tap on the screen - right there it's the other way around. Out of 20 times, it will work 2 times, or even one. This is very annoying, as the function is really needed. I love LG, but a lot stops me. The disadvantage is the habituation to such large "shovels". The rest seem small and you no longer want a smaller phone, although such shovels are terribly uncomfortable to carry in your pockets. There is nowhere to put it on a bicycle. Only in a backpack. Games slow down, it is possible to play, but there is no pleasure from this. Minions slow down, maleficent slows down. Installed the swiftKey keyboard - so when you call the keyboard - the phone thinks for a second.

Weighs the device 163 grams body is made of plastic. The plastic is pleasant to the touch, covered with a funny pattern on the back side. Alas, all surfaces (including the screen) are very fond of collecting fingerprints.

The case has a small slot for transporting the stylus. The back cover is removable, where you can find the battery, a slot for memory cards, and two slots for mini-SIM cards.

The device comes in a neat cardboard box, the contents of which are extremely difficult to pack back after opening. That's how it always is with phones. Apart from the D686 itself, we found only a USB-to-microUSB cable, a 6W charger, a wired stereo headset, and a quick start guide. The standard headset, as usual, sounds extremely poor - the sound is oversaturated with low frequencies and is prone to distortion.

Ports and communications

The micro USB port does not support OTG or MHL. There is a simplification for the sake of cost reduction. But there is an infrared port that can be used to remotely control various electronics.

The quality of the sound output through the standard 3.5 mm audio port does not raise any particular claims. But the volume is hardly enough for high-impedance headphones.

Accelerometer(or G-sensor) - device position sensor in space. As a main function, the accelerometer is used to automatically change the orientation of the image on the display (vertical or horizontal). Also, the G-sensor is used as a pedometer, it can be controlled by various functions of the device by turning or shaking.
Gyroscope- a sensor that measures the angles of rotation relative to a fixed coordinate system. Able to measure rotation angles in several planes simultaneously. The gyroscope together with the accelerometer allows you to determine the position of the device in space with high accuracy. In devices that use only accelerometers, measurement accuracy is lower, especially when moving quickly. Also, the capabilities of the gyroscope can be used in modern games for mobile devices.
Light sensor- a sensor, thanks to which the optimal values of brightness and contrast are set for a given level of illumination. The presence of the sensor allows you to increase the operating time of the device from the battery.
Proximity sensor- a sensor that detects when the device is close to the face during a call, turns off the backlight and locks the screen, preventing accidental pressing. The presence of the sensor allows you to increase the operating time of the device from the battery.
Geomagnetic sensor- a sensor for determining the direction of the world in which the device is directed. Tracks the orientation of the device in space relative to the Earth's magnetic poles. The information received from the sensor is used in mapping programs for orientation in the area.
Atmospheric pressure sensor- sensor for accurate measurement of atmospheric pressure. It is part of the GPS system, allows you to determine the height above sea level and speed up the location.
touch ID- Fingerprint identification sensor.

Approximations

Satellite navigation:

GPS(Global Positioning System - global positioning system) - a satellite navigation system that measures distance, time, speed and determines the location of objects anywhere on the Earth. The system was developed, implemented and operated by the US Department of Defense. The basic principle of using the system is to determine the location by measuring the distances to the object from points with known coordinates - satellites. The distance is calculated from the signal propagation delay time from sending it by the satellite to receiving it by the GPS receiver antenna.
GLONASS(Global Navigation Satellite System) - Soviet and Russian satellite navigation system, developed by order of the USSR Ministry of Defense. The measurement principle is similar to the American GPS navigation system. GLONASS is intended for operational navigation and time support for land, sea, air and space-based users. The main difference from the GPS system is that GLONASS satellites in their orbital movement do not have resonance (synchronism) with the Earth's rotation, which provides them with greater stability.

Design and ergonomics

Looking at the smartphone from the front, with a high degree of probability, you can determine the manufacturer, even if you do not look at the logo under the earpiece. Corporate features contribute to recognition: a black edging around the display, the location of the earpiece and the presence of a separate key for changing the priority of SIM cards.

It is not possible to find out who is the manufacturer of the protective glass. LG is modestly silent about this, and on the Corning website a long time ago they stopped updating the list of devices using their glasses. But what can be said for sure is that the surface of the glass is covered with an oleophobic layer that helps to avoid fingerprints and improves their glide. At the top edge is a metal mesh speaker, to the right of it is a proximity sensor and a camera. Under the speaker, you can see the manufacturer's logo, and under the display, from left to right, the touch keys: "Back", "Home", "Menu" and "Change SIM Priority". The keys are not backlit, so working with a smartphone in the dark is problematic, you can only hit the desired key at random.

The frame encircling the front side does not protrude above the glass. Its front part is stylized as metal, while the sides are painted white with mother-of-pearl splashes. Looks attractive. Surely, such a decision will make minor scuffs less noticeable. On the other hand, if you draw a parallel with the LG Optimus G, any serious contact with a hard object will leave a noticeable dent on the frame.

The back and front sides are separated by a silver insert of different widths. On the sidewalls, it turns into a thin strip, while at the ends it occupies about half of the entire area. It is on the silver insert that there are holes for a headphone jack, a microphone and an IR transmitter (upper end), Micro-USB, a microphone and two speakers (lower end). In addition to connectors and holes on the upper end, near the right sidewall, there is a stylus, when you remove it, the screen backlight turns on. Unlike the LG Optimus G and LG G2, the G Pro Lite Dual has two speakers. We will talk about their quality later.

On the sides of the case there are four mechanical keys and a recess for removing the back cover. Three of the keys are installed on the left side face, under a silvery stripe. These are the Quick Button keys (it can be assigned to launch any of the installed applications) and a dual volume button. In sleep mode, the keys do not work. The fourth key - power / lock, is installed on the opposite side. Its location is optimal, not too high and not in the center, not to mention the fact that it could be on the top end, as in HTC smartphones. All keys practically do not protrude above the surface of the case, which, nevertheless, does not prevent them from being blindly found, due to moderately sharp edges. The key travel is short, with a noticeable click when actuated.

The back of the case received a texture pattern. Fingerprints are only visible at certain angles. Surely in a black case, they will be more clearly visible.

In addition to the texture pattern, this part of the body attracts attention with the presence of a flash, a camera lens and a logo. A 3140 mAh battery (as in LG Optimus G Pro) and three slots are hidden under the cover: for SIM cards and a memory card. To access any of them, you do not need to remove the battery, so you can change the SIM or memory card on the fly.

The build quality is good, squeaks appear only with strong pressure, otherwise the LG G Pro Lite Dual is up to par, including the location of the controls. The picture is slightly spoiled by the lack of backlighting of the keys and the incomprehensible savings of the manufacturer on the light sensor.

Operating system and shell

The main advantage of the smartphone over a huge number of branded "Chinese" is the proprietary shell Optimus UI 3.0. Here the smartphone really stands one step above classmates. The operating system used is no longer the current Android 4.1. Considering LG's unwillingness to update firmware in its products, there is no need to wait for the appearance of Android 4.2, not to mention more recent versions. Despite this, the majority of users do not need it, the interface works smoothly, and the control panel is customizable.

Since the Optimus UI 3.0 shell is not the first time we have encountered it, we traditionally invite readers to familiarize themselves with its features in the review and where we spoke in detail about the interface of LG smartphones. Here we list only the differences.

In view of the larger display, five shortcuts are placed on the lock screen for quickly launching applications, an additional widget has appeared indicating the time and weather, but the animation has been removed when unlocking. Like the LG Optimus G Pro, the smartphone uses its own keyboard on which there was no place for the symbols "." and ",". Their place is occupied by the letters "U" and "X". In view of this, typing text in the Cyrillic layout is extremely inconvenient.

Among the applications and features of the LG G Pro Lite Dual, we highlight the following:

— « simple desktop"- a smartphone operating mode in which large dial keys, a weather widget and eight shortcuts to selected applications are displayed on the main and only desktop window. In this mode, the font is made as large as possible, which will be useful for people with poor eyesight.

- function " Knock Knock» - Exit sleep mode by double tapping on the screen. Using a similar gesture while the screen is on causes the screen to fade out;

Quick Button(quick access key, on the left side of the case) - a key that can be used to launch any of the applications available on the smartphone. Works only when the screen is unlocked;

Quick Translator is an online text translator that uses a camera as a scanner. The test can be translated both in small phrases and whole paragraphs. As a bonus, the manufacturer offers to download one dictionary for free and use it without access to the Internet. The application recognizes 44 languages and is able to translate them into 64 languages;

Safety Care- emergency application. When dialing 911, the smartphone automatically sends a text message to the previously set number. If the device is not used for a certain time (set in the settings), a corresponding text message is sent to the programmed number. The third function of the application is sending GPS coordinates on request;

— « Guest mode"- an application that provides access to a given category of programs. It can be used for cases when the smartphone owner wants to block access to some applications, including the ability to make calls and send messages;

QSlide Applications- a set of a small number of programs that can be run on top of other windows. In total, three programs can be launched: the main one and two QSlides.

The principle of operation of two SIM-cards is similar to other Android-smartphones. In standby mode, both SIMs are available, but when talking on one of them, the second one is out of range. Another advantage of LG Dual SIM smartphones is the ease of working with SIM cards. To specify from which card you want to make a call or send a message, just press a special key. In addition, the user can assign a default SIM with which this or that action will be performed, in particular, the smartphone recommends which SIM is best to call a particular subscriber with.

Hardware platform

The smartphone is based on a hardware platform MediaTek MT6577 is a system-on-a-chip manufactured using a 40-nm process technology, including two 1 GHz Cortex-A9 processor cores, a PowerVR SGX531 graphics accelerator and 1 GB of RAM. The amount of internal memory is 8 GB, of which about half is available when connected to a PC. Similar SoCs could be seen in last year's smartphones - this is another savings that is puzzling, at least because the current MediaTek solutions are manufactured using a 28nm process technology and have a much better energy efficiency / performance ratio. Given the huge battery, this could increase the autonomy of the LG G Pro Lite Dual by 25-30%, making it an excellent alternative to the long-playing Lenovo Ideaphone P780.

In terms of performance, LG G Pro Lite Dual shows poor results, the number of cores and an outdated graphics accelerator affect. The screen resolution, 960x540 pixels, somewhat softens the situation. If the SoC had to process an image at 1280x720 pixels, this would definitely lead to a drop in performance and smooth animation. As a result, on the one hand, the capabilities of the MT6577 may not seem enough for demanding users, but for those who do not plan to play heavy games and watch Full HD video, the main thing is that the smartphone does not “slow down” and works for a long time, LG G Pro Lite Dual will be quite enough.

The smartphone copes with HD video playback without difficulty, but to run Full HD video, you will have to use third-party applications. It's funny that even a relatively budget model is able to reproduce sound in an AC3 container. In our memory, this is the first MTK device that can play AC3 sound using regular means, in this case, a video player. Like its older brothers, being one of the QSlide applications, the video player can work in windowed mode. In addition, you can set your own brightness in the player settings. The sound volume in the headphones is sufficient for office premises, but when viewed in a noisy environment, it may not be enough. The sound volume in the speakers is high, the sound quality is on top, but the HTC One smartphone does not reach the reference smartphone in this parameter. The advantage of LG's solution is the separation of the speakers: one is used to reproduce high frequencies, and the second for low frequencies.

Satellite acquisition speed is not typical for the hardware platform used. According to this parameter, the smartphone is similar to models based on Qualcomm processors. The speed of data exchange in the Wi-Fi network is low, but it is quite enough for any possible tasks. The volume and sound quality of the earpiece is good.

The autonomy of the smartphone is commendable. This is evidenced by the results, both in normal use and in testing. With half an hour of calls, two hours of music, half an hour of navigation, automatic synchronization of two Google accounts over Wi-Fi, the user can count on three days of work. In the Antutu Tester application, the smartphone scored 814 points.

In two-hour tests LG G Pro Lite Dual showed itself as follows.

In reading mode, all wireless communications are disabled, including data transmission in the mobile network, and the display brightness is set to 50%. When listening to music, automatic data synchronization and data transfer worked. Headphone volume at 12 out of 15 possible levels. All music files in MP3 format, bitrate 320 Kbps. Navigation includes route planning in the Google Navigation app. The brightness is set to 50%, all communication communication modules are disabled. When playing a video, data transmission is active in the mobile network, the display brightness is set to 50%, the sound volume in the headphones is at level 12 out of a possible 15. Video file format MKV, resolution 1024x432 pixels, frame rate 24. Playing videos from Youtube was accompanied not only by working on a Wi-Fi network, but also by active data transfer. The display brightness is set to 50%, the headphone volume is set to 12 out of 15 possible levels.

Display

The smartphone is not in vain called LG G Pro Lite Dual, because the screen diagonal is exactly the same as that (the Optimus prefix is no longer used in LG smartphones) - 5.5 inches, only the resolution is slightly different. However, so is the price. In terms of quality, the IPS matrix used was rated by us as a four. Brightness values range from 40 cd/m² to 350 cd/m², 50% corresponds to 92 cd/m². The minimum value, coupled with the size of the matrix, makes reading something on a white background a very tedious process. Without installing additional software (for example, Lux Lite), which reduces the brightness of the backlight, it is simply impossible to read at night. On a sunny day, the display does not fade, the information is clearly visible from almost any angle. You can only adjust the brightness manually.

Checking the factory calibration of the IPS matrix revealed the following features: slightly oversaturated colors; overestimated contrast in dark areas of the image and insufficient in bright colors; as well as close to the ideal value of the white balance. In general, as already mentioned, the display shows quite decent performance. In fairness, we note that in everyday use, a low resolution is practically not striking, at least from a distance of 40 centimeters, the staggering of fonts is barely noticeable, but if you just look at the screen with a higher PPI value, the LG G Pro Lite Dual has 200 PPI, as you immediately notice the lack of image sharpness in the LG smartphone. All this means only one thing, the display cannot be called bad, but if you compare it with models in the same price range, the win will not be on the side of LG.

cameras

The LG G Pro Lite Dual has two cameras: 8 MP main and 1 MP front. Both are capable of recording video at a resolution of 1280x720 pixels. The main camera has autofocus and flash. Supports focusing by touching the screen, as well as selecting the ISO100-400 value, shooting by voice command and volume keys. The quality of the photos is average, closer to good, the night shots are especially successful. With video, the situation is comparable, with the only difference that when the lighting deteriorates, the quality of the video decreases, in particular, the frame rate drops. There are no complaints about the work of the front camera, it is quite suitable for self-portraits and communication.

Results

A few months ago, LG introduced its largest smartphone on the Ukrainian market - LG Optimus G Pro, which combines a modern hardware platform, the current version of Android (at that time), a good camera, a Full HD screen and a capacious battery. The new LG G Pro Lite Dual also has a 5.5-inch screen, it also has relatively compact dimensions, it has an infrared port, a battery similar in capacity, and a lot of software chips. Screen resolution, cameras, and hardware platform were sacrificed. Given the price difference, the user is offered a choice between the better-equipped, but more expensive LG Optimus G Pro, and the affordable, but less advanced LG G Pro Lite Dual. Well, as a bonus, the user receives a loud and high-quality sound from stereo speakers, two slots for SIM cards and a stylus.

Positioning

Not so long ago, we published an article about the LG G Pro smartphone. This device differed from other devices of the company by a rather large screen size and high resolution. Even the Vu 3 has a smaller display size, although the gadget is considered a mini-tablet. From LG Optimus G Pro novelty has inherited the screen size and overall appearance. Everything else has become much weaker: chipset (instead of Qualcomm APQ8064T, the familiar Taiwanese MTK6577 is used), display resolution (FullHD vs. qHD), memory (2 GB vs. 1 GB), camera (13 MP and 8 MP) and so on. Actually, that's why the name has the prefix Lite.

Design, dimensions, controls

The LG G Pro Lite smartphone has impressive dimensions - 150x76x9.48 mm, the weight for such a device is relatively small - 161 grams. For example, the Samsung Galaxy Note II measures 151x80x9.4 mm and weighs 183 grams. In this case, the diagonals of the screens are the same. The frames of the G Pro Lite are 4 mm on the left and on the right, 14 mm on the top and bottom.

There are two color versions: white and black. We had a black gadget on the review. The shape of the LG case is rectangular, the corners are slightly bevelled, the top and bottom edges are slightly convex. A thin edge is made of glossy black plastic, closer to the front panel it is painted in silver color, it slightly rises above the screen, thus protecting from external influences, if, for example, the phone is placed face down. There is a chrome-plated plastic insert between the back cover and the edging. On the sides it is much thinner than on the upper and lower ends. The rear panel is also made of glossy dark blue-gray plastic. Since, as I think, the surface is covered with a special varnish on top, the prints are less noticeable than if this layer were not present. As in LG Optimus G Pro, there is also a certain texture at the back cover in the form of small (visually voluminous) circles. It doesn’t look very impressive, but it’s better than just a glossy “soap”.

The screen is protected by glass, for a long time of testing, not a single scratch appeared on it. The back cover is covered with small "scratches", but they are visible only at a certain angle in bright light. The smartphone is assembled soundly: it does not creak or play, the lid does not bend to the battery.

Despite the large size, Pro Lite lies well in the hand thanks to the smooth outlines of the case. However, it is not easy to operate the device with one hand. By the way, in the upper right corner there is a stylus, its length is 100 mm, its diameter is 3.5 mm, at the end there is a soft conductive material. In general, the usual thin stylus that is suitable for any touch screen.

The front camera, light and proximity sensors, as well as the earpiece are located on the top of the front panel. The volume of the speech speaker is high, intelligibility is slightly above average, the interlocutor is heard well. There were no issues with the sensors.

Under the screen - "Back", "Home", "Menu" and a dedicated button for switching between SIM cards, as well as launching SIM management settings.

These buttons are applied to the case with silver paint. The strangest thing is that they do not have a backlight: during the day they can be seen without problems, but at night you have to “poke” your fingers on the bottom of the smartphone in the hope of hitting the right button.

In this version of the phone, LG specialists have provided a separate mechanical button on the top left end to launch any application, be it Camera, Music, Voice Recorder or some game.

A little lower is the volume rocker. On the left side there is a thin and small on / off button for the device.

Top - 3.5 mm audio output, microphone, infrared port. Below - two speakers (actually two, stereo sound), taken away by metal grids, micro-USB and the main microphone.

On the back side there is a camera, framed by a black metal insert, and a single-section flash.

The lid is removable. To open it, you need to pull the notch on the lower left end. The memory card is inserted into the slot at the top left, and two SIM cards (one above the other) - on the right.

Display

As in the case of the LG Optimus G Pro, the G Pro Lite has a 5.5-inch screen size. The physical size of the matrix is 67.5x121 mm. The resolution is quite low - 540x960 pixels is 200 pixels per inch. Despite this density, pixelation is practically not striking. Probably due to the good quality IPS-matrix. Although at the corners purple shades still appear, then yellow. The brightness is high, it is enough to read information on a sunny day without any problems. The screen matrix backlight adjustment range is small. At a minimum, sometimes you want to make it darker.

The capacitive touch layer works out up to 10 simultaneous touches. Sensitivity is comparable to similar devices. To activate the device with two "taps" on the display, you can enable the special option "Turn on the screen" in the settings. One of the most convenient features of some LG smartphones.

Battery

The device uses a removable lithium-ion (Li-Ion) battery with a capacity of 3140 mAh, 11.9 Wh. Exactly the same is in LG Optimus G Pro. According to official data, in standby mode G Pro Lite will work for 845 hours, in talk mode - up to 15 hours.

During the test, I got the following indicators:

  • HD video playback (720p, H.264) at maximum brightness and volume with sound output to headphones: just over 5 hours
  • Music playback in headphones at maximum volume: just over 35 hours
  • Game only (high brightness and volume): up to 3 hours
  • Wi-Fi surfing only (high brightness backlight): about 10 hours

On average, the device worked for about 20 hours (brightness - 30 - 100): 15-20 minutes of calls per day, sending 20 text messages, 4 hours of active Internet surfing (3G connection) and a constant connection during the entire time of operation.

Communication options

The phone works in cellular networks 2G (850/900/1800/1900) and 3G (850/900/1900/2100). Speed HSDPA - up to 7.2 Mbps, HSUPA - up to 5.76 Mbps.

Available with Bluetooth version 3.0 (with A2DP stereo profile) for file and voice transfer. There were no problems with connecting headsets: it connects quickly, speech is transmitted clearly.

I did not observe involuntary loss of the network, the sensitivity is very high.

There is a wireless connection Wi-Fi 802.11 b / g / n. The device can be used as an access point (Wi-Fi Hotspot).

The sensitivity of the Wi-Fi receiver is on par with the iPhone 5, LG Optimus G Pro, Nexus 4 receivers.

USB 2.0 is used for file transfer and data synchronization. When LG is connected to a PC, it is identified as a USB flash device or USB modem.

Memory and memory card

If the Optimus G Pro has 2 GB of RAM, then the G Pro Lite has only 1 GB. On average, just over 500 MB are free. The internal memory is 8 GB, but only 4.67 GB is available. Naturally, there is a slot for a microSD memory card. The maximum volume is 32 GB.

Camera

The LG G Pro Lite smartphone uses two camera modules: the main one with 8 MP (with BSI technology), the front one with 1.3 MP. There is a single-section LED flash, the maximum glow distance is 1-1.5 meters. The minimum ISO value is 55, the maximum (automatic) is 1600. The aperture is F / 2.4, the focal length is 30 mm, i.e. Optics are not the fastest and not the widest.

The photo quality is average, but it cannot be said that it is worse than that of B-brand smartphones. Focusing is slow, but white balance detection is perfect. Noise cancellation works well.

Since the old MTK6577 chipset is installed here, the video recording resolution is 720p at 30 fps. The picture is clear, does not float, there is autofocus. The sound is weak (strong compression), mono.

The camera settings are about the same as in the LG G2, but, of course, a little curtailed: no manual focus, no many modes - HDR, VR panorama, dual camera, "Shot & Clear" and others. When shooting video, there are no modes at all.

EXIF information from a photo file

Video file characteristic:

  • File Format: MP4
  • Video codec: MPEG-4, 8 Mbps
  • Resolution: 1280x720, 30 fps
  • Audio codec: AAC, 20 Kbps
  • Channels: 1 channel, 16 kHz

Performance and software platform

The smartphone is based on a rather ancient MediaTek MT6577 chipset. I think it's not worth talking about it: almost every device up to 10,000 rubles last year used this chip. And now it is found in some models. Of course, it is surprising to see MTK6577 in a device for 14,000 rubles, but if a gadget does not need a lot of power, then it is quite reasonable: it consumes little, copes with all everyday tasks. Oddly enough, the LG G Pro Lite does not slow down or bug at all. Optimization matters!
