Preparation time: Prep 10 minutes, bake 10 minutes Servings: 8

Remember how you and I baked an amazing, delicious white loaf with herbs and cheese. The fragrant bread “squares” scattered with amazing speed! And today I offer you a similar recipe, just as fragrant, spring, green, with almost the same ingredients, only executed in a different form.

Long white bread - baguette - is also great for such quick hot sandwiches. So now we’ll build an “accordion” from a baguette with herbs and garlic: everyone can break off a slice of fragrant, warm, satisfying bread! Thanks to the author Marinaby from “Cook” for the recipe!

Dill, parsley, garlic and olive oil create a unique mix of flavors; butter soaks the bread, making it juicy; the cheese melts deliciously... Let's get started quickly! Moreover, a baguette is prepared quickly in the oven: 10 minutes for preparation, 10 for baking, and you can enjoy!

Ingredients:

  • 1 baguette;
  • A small bunch of dill;
  • The same bunch of parsley;
  • 2 cloves of garlic;
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil;
  • 50 g butter;
  • Salt (to taste; about ¼ teaspoon);
  • Ground black pepper.

To the original recipe, I added a few feathers of young green onions and garlic, and also couldn’t resist inserting slices of cheese and ham into the baguette: it’s both more beautiful and tastier! You can include basil or something else fragrant, green, spring-summer in your set of greens!

How to cook a baguette with dill, parsley, cheese and ham in the oven:

Let's prepare the greens: immerse them in cold water for 5 minutes to soak all the dust particles from the leaves, then rinse under running water and dry in a colander. Keep the butter at room temperature until it softens.

Mix soft butter and olive oil in a plate (ideally, first cold pressed, it is both more aromatic and healthier!). Salt and pepper.

Finely chop the greens, mix with oil and spices.

We make cuts on the baguette at a distance of 1.5-2 cm, not cutting a little to the bottom so that the slices stay together. Here you need to show almost jewelry precision: if you make shallow cuts, then when filling the cuts with filling, the baguette bends like an arc; and if you overdo it, it falls apart into separate segments. However, this does not affect the taste - the pieces can simply be placed side by side and baked with the same success as a whole baguette.

Cut the cheese and ham into thin slices, the thinner the better.

Place slices of cheese and ham alternately into the slits on the baguette and spread with aromatic green butter.

Without completely wrapping the baguette in foil, place it on a baking sheet and place it in an oven preheated to 200C. To prevent the bread from drying out, I spray boiled water on the baguette and on the baking sheet, and you can place a heat-resistant container with water on the bottom of the oven.

Bake the baguette for 7-10 minutes, until the butter melts and is absorbed into the bread, and the cheese melts appetizingly.

Having taken it out, I also sprinkle the baguette with boiled water and cover it with a towel for 5-10 minutes so that it becomes softer. However, if you like to crunch, then this stage can be omitted.

We treat ourselves to delicious bread with herbs, garlic and other goodies!

I have long wanted to learn how to bake a French baguette. I love this bread very much, but only fresh. But sometimes it's hard to find a fresh baguette. After all, baguette is famous for its crispy crust.

Therefore, I decided to bake French bread at home. Moreover, I have already prepared different types of baked goods, for example, pita bread or pita bread. I also made French onion pie, which everyone really liked.

I would like to offer you several options for preparing a baguette - traditional, with ham and cheese.

How to make a French baguette

Dough ingredients

350 ml water

500 grams of flour

1/3 teaspoon dry yeast

1.5 teaspoons salt

Making a traditional French baguette

First you need to prepare the dough. To do this, stir yeast, 2 tablespoons of flour in half the volume of water and set until the dough rises.

When the dough doubles in volume, add the remaining ingredients and knead the dough. Place the dough in a greased bowl and place in a warm place to rise for about 3 hours.

When the dough has risen, you need to stir it and let it rise again.

When the baguette dough has doubled in volume and does not stick to your hands, divide it into 3 parts and let rest for 15 minutes.

Then use your hands to stretch the dough into a flat cake and roll it into a roll.

While rolling, be careful not to press the dough too hard onto the surface. The rolled baguette can also be further rolled into a spiral to give it an unusual shape.

Place the resulting baguettes on a sheet of parchment, greased with oil, cover with film or a napkin and let the dough rise for 30 minutes.

Preheat the oven to 240 degrees. Before putting the baguette in the oven, you need to make 3 - 4 shallow cuts and sprinkle the dough with warm water in order to get a crispy crust.

Bake French baguettes for 20 - 30 minutes.

How to make a French baguette with ham

If you want to make a French baguette with ham, then you need to stretch the dough with your hands, place pieces of ham on it, lightly brush with mustard and roll.

Pinch the edges, place the baguette on the prepared baking sheet, and bake like traditional baguettes.

How to make a French baguette with cheese and garlic

In order to make a French baguette with cheese and garlic, you need to slightly change the baking process and add some ingredients.

Prepare garlic oil. To do this, chop a few cloves of garlic and add to the melted butter. Cut the hard cheese into thin slices, 5-6 cm in size.

After 20 minutes of baking the baguette, remove it from the oven and make cuts with a knife every 2-3 cm.

Brush the baguette with melted garlic butter, insert the cheese slices into the slits and bake the baguette for another 5 minutes until the cheese is melted.

Of course, a French baguette with cheese and garlic can be eaten right away, because it is especially tasty while the cheese is melted. Mmmm, you can lick your fingers...

Therefore, such baguettes need to be made smaller. I wish everyone good luck in their experiments.

For the dish, not only a baguette is suitable, but also white, rye or dark bread and other loaves. Choose the product according to your taste. The baguette is baked in a variety of ways: cut into 1 cm pieces, boats or barrels. The main thing is that it is cut into equal pieces. The filling is placed or spread on the slices. It can be a variety of sausages, sausages, ham, meat, minced meat, smoked ham, mushrooms, eggs, pate, herbs, onions, tomatoes, cucumbers, fish, seafood, etc.

Almost every recipe uses cheese. It is most often used melted, but any other soft product will do. You can also cook with smoked sausage cheese. Sandwiches will be juicier and more appetizing if they are coated with sauce. For example, mayonnaise, mustard, ketchup. You can make a combined complex sauce from mustard and soft butter, from mayonnaise and herbs, from sour cream and cheese, etc. Here you need to make sure that the sauce is not too liquid, otherwise it will be absorbed into the bread, which will make the sandwiches soggy.

Having a microwave makes it easier to prepare hot sandwiches, but if there is no such device, then the treat is baked in the oven or fried in a good non-stick frying pan. The baked baguette is served in the oven on ordinary flat plates immediately after cooking, because it is called a “hot sandwich.” When cold, the dish loses its taste. When serving, sandwiches are decorated with fresh herbs.

Baguette- This is a type of baking that has gained great popularity in almost all countries of the world. This baked product is a long thin loaf, very soft on the inside, but with a hard, crispy outside, cooked in the oven. Often the top of a baguette is sprinkled with flour and inside contains a delicious filling.

It is generally accepted that this pastry was first born in France. There are many theories about the origin of the baguette, some of which are absurd, and some of which have quite logical reasons for existence. For example, one theory is that French bakers were forced to bake thin, long bread so that it could be broken by hand. This is due to the fact that during the construction of the metro in Paris, many workers often clashed. And since almost everyone carried knives for slicing bread, such conflicts often ended in tears. An interesting fact is that to this day, before eating, it is customary not to cut a baguette, but to break it with your hands.

The traditional recipe for making this pastry was approved only in 1993, despite the fact that it began to be baked around 1839. The ingredients and method of preparing the baguette were constantly changing, as were the fillings, but in the end the official recipe was adopted.

It is customary to eat a baguette in one or two meals, while it is still fresh, since by the end of the day the baked goods will certainly become stale and lose their original taste and airiness.

Types of baguette and fillings

There are several specific types of baguette, which have their own names. Here are the most popular ones:

  • traditional (homemade);
  • rye;
  • round;
  • country style;
  • baguette prepared according to a special bakery recipe;
  • in the form of a thread, having a very thin shape;
  • spikelet.

It is believed that a real baguette should weigh exactly two hundred grams, but sometimes errors are made.

The filling for this pastry very often depends on the baker’s imagination. Most often, ingredients such as garlic, herbs, chicken eggs, cheese, ham, chicken, pate, butter, herring, and many others are used for filling. The airy structure of the baguette goes well with almost any product you use for filling, so you can experiment.

How to cook at home?

Making a delicious baguette at home is easy if you know the secrets of its preparation. The main ingredients for its preparation are wheat flour, milk, salt, water, dry yeast, eggs, butter and brown sugar.

For sprinkling, you can use sesame seeds or lightly dust the baguette with flour.

The baking process is very simple. You need to mix all the ingredients, knead the dough thoroughly so that it turns out viscous and homogeneous, as well as smooth. It needs to be sent to a warm place for one hour so that the yeast begins to “play”. After this, divide the dough into two equal parts, each of which needs to be rolled out into equal squares. Melt the butter and brush the dough with it, then roll it up and put it in the refrigerator for twenty minutes. Then you need to take out the dough, roll it out again and brush it with melted butter again. After this, roll the dough into a thin roll, and make characteristic cuts on top. If desired, sprinkle the baguette with sesame seeds and be sure to brush with a mixture of beaten egg and milk.

Leave the dough to soak for half an hour, then place it on parchment paper and place it in the oven, preheated to 180 degrees. Baking a baguette at home in the oven takes about forty minutes. You can also use a bread machine to prepare this pastry. This kitchen gadget will greatly simplify the cooking process, since the bread machine will allow you to get very airy and tender dough. To do this, you need to put the necessary ingredients in a container and wait until the device does everything for you. Remove the finished dough from the bread machine, divide into several parts, roll out, add filling if desired, roll into a roll and place in the oven preheated to 200 degrees for twenty-five minutes.

If you want the baguette to be soft and melt in your mouth, place a container of water under the baking sheet with the dough.

  • The finished baguette can be eaten as a snack with other dishes, or you can make a delicious snack from it.
  • You can make delicious croutons from the finished baked goods by cutting the baguette into small thin rings and sprinkling with seasoning.
  • Another dish that can be prepared using this baked product is a sandwich. It is very convenient to take with you to work or school as lunch, especially if you make a ham or chicken sandwich.
  • Many housewives manage to make pizza from this pastry, which also turns out very airy and light. Mushrooms, vegetables, fruits, herbs, ham, chicken and cheese are great for filling.
  • The finished baguette is often dipped into an omelette mixture and fried in a pan. This dish is perfect for breakfast and is also very tasty and light.
  • As a filling for a stuffed baguette, you can use meat pate with herbs.
  • Ultimately, you can make regular baked sandwiches by properly slicing a baguette like bread and then brushing it with butter.

A delicious homemade baguette is similar to a store-bought loaf, but when you try it, you will see that there is a very big difference between these products..

Making this baked product usually takes from three to six hours for different housewives, including preparing the sourdough and preparing the ingredients for the filling.
