Peel the potatoes and rinse them in cold water. It is advisable to use large-sized potatoes so that they can be easily cut into strips.




We cut the potatoes into very thin strips; a Korean grater is ideal for this. The result is long and thin chips. This is what we need. Wash potato chips to remove excess starch. Drain the water and cover with napkins so that drops of water are absorbed into the paper.




Season the potatoes with spices, salt and add paprika and various types of pepper. You will get very aromatic and tasty potatoes.




Pour a generous amount of vegetable oil into a frying pan and heat over medium heat. The oil will warm up when you feel and hear the aroma of fried oil and a slight smoke appears above it. Place the potatoes in the hot oil in small portions so that they fry evenly.






Place the fried potato chips on napkins again, but this time to remove excess oil and fat.

I want to offer you a different version of potato pie that was known to Tosya, and with her, to our mothers and grandmothers. They grated “potato chips” on a coarse grater. This method, of course, is also very good, and most importantly, it is publicly available. But the most impressive-looking potato pie, in my opinion, is obtained if you use a Korean carrot grater. It is very decorative, tasty, crispy, quick to make, and is ideal for sprinkling on some dishes, such as salad "".

I couldn’t find reliable information about which country’s cuisine includes potato pie, so for now I’ll put it in the cuisine of the USSR - at least, they even talked about this recipe in the movies there. ;)

Golden straws will be a worthy alternative to French fries. It is good as an independent dish and as a component of many salads. The thinnest vegetable pieces retain their appetizing crunch even a day after cooking.

The volume of oil poured should be one third of the volume of the frying pan. Its duration is no more than a minute.

1. You will need large potato tubers without mechanical damage and black spots. For chopping, you can use a Korean carrot grater or a well-sharpened knife to do everything by hand.

Wash the potatoes, peel and chop.

2. Place the chopped potatoes in a large bowl of cold water. Rinse it thoroughly to remove starch.

3. Place in a colander and place in the sink. Turn on cold water and rinse thoroughly again. Shake to remove excess water.

4. Prepare paper towels, lay them out in several layers. Place potato strips on them. Dip thoroughly on all sides to remove moisture. Potatoes should be well dried.

5. Take a deep and not very wide heat-resistant saucepan. Pour in enough vegetable oil. Place over high heat. Heat well until crackling. To check, lower a couple of potato straws. If the oil immediately begins to sizzle strongly, it means you can fry the prepared potatoes. Add potatoes in small portions to hot oil and fry until golden brown. Don't go too far, as the whole process happens quite quickly.

To prepare potato pie, I advise you to choose smooth, medium-sized root vegetables, preferably without eyes, so that the stripes are long and of the same size. Peel the potatoes and wash them in cold water.


Then we choose one of two grinding methods. You can take a sharp knife and cut the tubers into very thin, long strips. But it is much more convenient to use a Korean carrot grater. Then three potatoes in one direction so that you get long strips.



Now you need to rinse it thoroughly to remove the starch, otherwise nothing will work. We wash the potato straws in cold water 2-3 times until they are transparent.


Then you need to remove excess moisture, for which we place the straws in a colander or sieve. Now the potatoes will not darken.


At the end of preparation, lay out paper towels in several layers and distribute potato straws on top in an even layer. The less moisture there is in the potatoes, the faster and better the potato pie will cook.


Take a saucepan or any other dish, not wide and deep enough. Pour refined vegetable oil into it (I use sunflower oil) and heat it over medium heat until a slight smoke appears. You can check the readiness of the oil this way: just throw a couple of potato straws into it. If the oil begins to sizzle and bubble immediately, it means you can cook in it. You need to add potatoes in portions, otherwise they will not be able to cook properly. I did this in 5 steps. Throw some of the potatoes into boiling oil and fry over medium heat for 3 minutes. At first, the potatoes will become very soft, it will literally seem like they are crumbling into porridge. At the same time, the oil boils and bubbles very actively. But this is one of the stages of preparing potato pie. Then you will see how the boiling begins to subside (even though we did not reduce the heat), and the potato straws become dense and elastic. And finally, the potatoes will begin to acquire an appetizing blush. Attention, the most crucial moment! Just when the straw starts to brown, it will be ready in a matter of seconds, so don’t leave the stove. Using a slotted spoon, remove the finished portion of potato pie and place it on a paper towel. Prepare the rest of the potatoes in the same way.


Just half a kilo of (unpeeled) root vegetables yielded a decent amount of potato pie. Now you can add salt to it, but I'll be honest. I didn’t even add salt - and it was so delicious.

You won’t surprise anyone with potatoes in a salad for a long time. But only if the usual boiled product is added, or at least classically fried. Few people know about such a variation of cooking as “Pai”. Naturally, salads with Pai potatoes will be very unusual, original, attracting close attention. Surprising everyone around and delighting your loved ones with another “delicious treat” turns out to be quite simple. The only thing is to cook the potatoes in a special way and make a wonderful salad with them, which will be very difficult to tear yourself away from - it has an amazing taste.

The difficulty in preparing this dish lies solely in frying the potatoes according to a special recipe. Even meat is replaced here with smoked chicken, and due to this, the cooking speed becomes lightning fast. Moreover, it is this product that gives the dish an unsurpassed taste and aroma, which is important for any salad.

Required components:

  • 300 gr. smoked chicken breast;
  • 200 gr. potatoes;
  • 1 medium cucumber (fresh);
  • 2 medium cucumbers (salted);
  • 1 onion;
  • 20 gr. greenery;
  • 2 gr. salt;
  • 120 gr. mayonnaise;
  • 100 gr. vegetable oil.

Potato pie salad recipe:

  1. The potatoes are immediately washed and peeled with a brush, after which they take a Korean carrot grater and rub it on it. After such grinding, they are washed again and placed in a colander, and all the water is drained.
  2. Heat the oil in a frying pan and pour the potatoes into it, then fry it and place it on a napkin to remove excess oil from the product.
  3. All cucumbers are cut into thin strips on a board.
  4. The chicken breast is also finely chopped; you don’t even have to cut it, but tear it into fibers with your hands.
  5. The onion is cleaned, washed with water and chopped into thin half rings with a knife, doused with boiling water and squeezed.
  6. Place chicken at the bottom of the salad bowl, and onion on it, coat it with mayonnaise.
  7. Next, place a fresh cucumber and coat it too.
  8. After this, pickles are laid out and “Pai” potatoes are placed on top.
  9. Sprinkle everything with washed and finely chopped herbs.

Important! Before frying, the potatoes should already be completely dry; the slightest drop of moisture will cause the oil to start shooting out, and the root vegetables themselves will stick together during the frying process.

Although it uses fairly simple products, the presence of which in a salad cannot surprise anyone, it is with them that the dish acquires a special charm and nobility. Required components:

  • 500 gr. chicken fillet;
  • 250 gr. canned mushrooms;
  • 250 gr. corn in a jar;
  • 50 gr. iceberg lettuce;
  • 100 gr. potatoes;
  • 300 gr. cucumbers;
  • 50 gr. butter;
  • 50 gr. mayonnaise;
  • 2 gr. salt;
  • 4 gr. pepper.

Preparation step by step:

  1. The chicken fillet is immediately washed and cut on a board with a knife into thin, even strips as even as possible.
  2. Pour oil into a frying pan and pour in the chopped chicken, fry well, but do not dry it out, and pour into a bowl.
  3. The mushrooms are filtered from the marinade and poured into the same bowl.

  5. Open the jar of corn and place it in a colander to dry.

Tip: instead of pickled mushrooms, you can also use fresh ones, which you just need to chop and fry. The most aromatic dish will be made with wild mushrooms, and not with ordinary store-bought champignons or milk mushrooms.

  2. Already on a napkin that has not yet cooled down, salt and spices are added to it.
  3. The chicken fillet is washed and placed on a board, cut into thin strips and placed in a frying pan, fried with butter for just a couple of minutes.
